First Birthday Party

Killian and Payton’s first birthday party was the BEST first birthday party EVER! My mom and step-dad (Grandma and Papa) are amazing and completely let us take over their house and yard with rubber duck paraphernalia and did so much planning and decorating – they are awesome! Grandma and Papa also surprised all of us with a duck petting zoo! Not only did we want to have a party to celebrate them turning one, we wanted to celebrate surviving the first year (which, by the way, wasn't as hard as everyone said it would be), and also to celebrate all the people in our lives who are important to us.

We had the most amazing birthday cake created for them by Sonia at Cake Studio. Not only did it look incredible, it tasted SO good! She's a total sweetheart, and you can call her at 213-210-1104 if you want a cake made - she makes all special event cakes, including wedding and shower cakes.

We couldn’t have pulled this off without help from some of our friends too; Tanya for helping me paint 50 duck foot prints, Keith for designing the banner and bean bag toss, Judy for letting me borrow her craft scissors for the favor tags, Bryan for BBQing lunch when it turned out the lady we hired to do it didn’t know how, everyone at my work who was probably sick of me asking “this one or this one”. And of course, my mom and Erik for re-sodding their backyard and planting flowers, the bounce house, a million trips to the craft store and fabric mart, the ducks!, re-decorating their house, making cookies, cupcakes and chocolates, the video/picture montage of the babies’ first year, and everything else they bought and did for this party!
